Posted by Muhammed Posted on Saturday, March 16, 2013

However, if you are on a budget and are concerned with price, you will want to go the extra mile to research tablets that you might want. Fortunately, you can purchase a tablet for a reasonable price without having to sacrifice quality. Here are some of the best tablet computers on the market.

Tablet

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 has been available since August 2012 and can be purchased for as low as $379 at popular department store Walmart. It runs on Android’s 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and includes internal storage amount choices of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB. In addition, there is a microSD slot that supports cards of up to 64GB. A quad-core 1.4GHz processor and 2GB of RAM provide power for getting all of your work done, surfing the web and streaming content at your leisure. The screen is 10.1 inches and boasts a 1280 by 800 pixel resolution. There is an included S-Pen stylus with the tablet to make it easier to use. The rear-facing main camera is 5 megapixels and it is capable of capturing video at 720 pixels and 30 frames per second. The tablet takes a standard mini SIM card and is capable of connecting to your wireless carrier’s 3G data as well as Wi-Fi.

iPad mini

Apple’s iPad mini is the latest tablet computer available from the Cupertino, California tech giant. It is available in color choices of black and slate or white and silver in 16GB, 32GB or 64GB versions. You can also choose whether you want it to take Wi-Fi only or if you want a cellular data connection as well. Wi-Fi only versions start at $329, while those that take data start at a price point or $459. The iPad mini has a 7.9 inch screen that boasts a resolution of 1024 by 768. It comes equipped with the A5 chip and is powered by iOS 6, which is upgradable to iOS 6.1.2. The tablet has been available since November 2012 and continues to be a favorite among consumers.

Google Nexus 7

The Google Nexus 7 by Asus is another great Android tablet you may want to consider. It has a seven inch screen and is the first device to have included the 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. It is available in internal storage amounts of 16GB and 32GB and has been on the market since July 2012. The single camera is only 1.2 megapixels, which is acceptable for video calling, but if you are looking to take photos on it, it may not be the right tablet for you. At the same time, it has a nice price tag of $199 or $249.

Lenovo IdeaTab A2107A Review

Posted by Muhammed Posted on Thursday, March 14, 2013
IdeaTab A2107
The 7-inch Lenovo IdeaTab A2107 is much similar to the Lenovo IdeaTab A2109A tablet. The $235 tablet offers 16GB of expandable storage and 3G connectivity. The IdeaTab A2107A is set to compete with other 7-inch tablets including Barnes & Noble Nook HD, Kindle Fire HD and Google Nexus 7.

Design and Hardware

It is a cheap tablet just like the Lenovo IdeaTab A2109A. However, the 11.5mm device feels quite sturdy: it doesn’t flex or creak. It weighs 400g, so it feels quite heavy. The chassis of A2107A has been designed simply along with a matt black rear and a stylish glass front. On the top there is a micro-USB charging slot, headphone jack and a power button, and there is volume rocker on the right hand side. A microSD slot and two SIM ports are located on top of the rear.

The 7-inch display has a pixel ratio of 169ppi and resolution of 1204 x 600. It is low compared to other tablets such as the Nexus 7, Nook HD and Kindle Fire HD, each of them has a minimum of 1280 x 800 resolution screen. However, you won’t notice much of a difference in the display, as the built-in MediaTek display technology enables sharp, full-bodied colors and rich detail. But the viewing angles are not so great.

Cameras

We must admit that the IdeaTab A2107A has the awful cameras. The 2MP model doesn’t even include a flash. You can alter the scene mode or white balance, apply filters and control the zoom through a slider of the Camera app. You will immediately tell whether you’re in panorama, video or still mode. Unlike with other camera apps, simply tapping anywhere on the screen won’t trigger the camera shutter. For the purpose of video chat there is a front-facing camera of 3.0MP. But, it is quite awful and grainy in low light.

Performance and Battery Life

With strong build quality and built-in 3G connectivity at only $235, there must be a catch somewhere, and that comes in the form of horrible performance. The MediaTek 6575 platform used by the Lenovo IdeaTab is mainly used for budget smartphones. This includes a 1GHz single-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor with dual-SIM capability and MediaTek’s own display technology, which is accompanied by 1GB of RAM. On the Geekbench2 test, it recorded only 368 points, while the Kindle Fire HD and Nexus 7 scored 1,124 and 1,452 respectively. You can notice lag even while swiping between home screens. In SunSpider test, the Nexus 7 finished the test in 1,665ms, while the IdeaTab took 3,037 to complete the test. The company has claimed that the battery will last for 10 hours with W-Fi, or 8 hours with 3G.

Software

The Lenovo IdeaTab A2107A runs the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Though it is not the latest version of Android OS, it is pretty standard at present. Lenovo has also included few of its own tweaks including carousel-effect home screens and other apps like Business, Tools, Games, Social and Media. Some of the preinstalled apps include Docs2Go, Cut the Rope, ooVoo, Norton Security, Evernote, NewsRepublic and Amazon Kindle app. There is also Lenovo’s PrinterShare, a BackupAndRestore utility and a GameTanium games store.
