How to fix WdsClient error when install images using Windows Deployment Service?

When you install images through Windows Deployment Service (WDS) in a system which have latest mother board, you may see the below error. 

"WdsClient:  An error occurred while obtaining an IP address from the DHCP server.  Please check to ensure that there is an operational DHCP server on this network segment."

It indicate that your Network Interface Card (NIC) did not received valid IP address from DHCP server, it may be because the DHCP server is not serving IP address or your NIC may be required additional drivers and in most case that could be the problem. 

Solution:- 

First of all make sure your DHCP server is up and running and serving IP addresses. Then you need to add network driver to the boot image. For this 

1. Open Windows Deployment Management Console and Expand the server and right click on Drivers and select "Add Driver package"

2. In Add Driver package wizard enter the location of the driver software. The package must be extracted means it should not be .msi or .exe files

3. Then select the appropriate driver package and click next and follow the onscreen instructions

4. When it come the driver groups, choose the existing driver group or create a new one

5. When it Finish, you will get an optional settings  to “Modify the filters for this group now”. Using this you can set  which clients should get this drivers on network boot. If you do nnot want to set any filters, you can just ignore it and click on finish

6. It will add driver package in drivers

7. After successful adding driver package in to server you need to update boot image. For this go to the boot image and right click, then select Add driver package to image. 

8. You will get a welcome screen with warning that recommend you to back up the boot image before proceed.  It is highly recommended because, if any goes wrong over here may corrupt the boot image. 

9. Then select the appropriate driver package depend on the version of your boot image and follow the onscreen instruction to complete the process. 

10. Once it done, reboot your client and start it from network boot and load the image. You will not see any errors :).

How to Easily Backup Android to the Cloud

Despite all the safety measures, theft prevention software and the overall reliability of the Android platform, you can never be completely sure that your phone (or tablet) won’t go berserk at one point, or simply stop working. Google Account

One of the more convenient things about being able to create your profile on Google is that you can easily save the data from your Android device to the cloud. This includes everything from your bookmarks to email, calendar, apps and contacts. The option to do this is under the settings tab on your device. Go to Settings and then Privacy and you’ll see the option to backup your settings and enable automatic restore.

Naturally, make sure that you are backing up the right account, as you’ll be given the option of backing up any account that you may have. Following that, you should go to Account and Sync tab, also under Settings, and check all the options that are offered there, and just like that, most of your data is safe in the cloud.

SMS Backup +

This app doesn’t come with Android so you’ll have to download it, but it’s completely free, so this shouldn’t be a problem. Once you install the app you can use it to easily send all your text message threads to your Gmail account, where they will be sorted under SMS tab.

You can do the same for your call log entries and MMS messages, but while you can restore log entries and text messages to your phone, you are not given the same option with MMS, but this shouldn’t be too much of a problem for a majority of users, and might get addressed in one of the future incarnations of the app.

Google Instant Upload

If you are running at least Android 2.2 or a newer version, your phone came with this service. Basically, once you enable it, all the images or videos that you take are instantly uploaded to your Google+ account. The album will be named ‘From the phone’, and is completely private, so you don’t have to worry about anyone else seeing your media, unless you later decide to make it public. You should get the option of enabling this service the first time that you sign up, but if you didn't or you want to do it later, you can find the option in Menu/Settings.

Today I came across an issue with Skype in Windows8 and I am surprised that Microsoft forcing to create a an account and merge with Skype during the installation. 

When I go through Skype support, I got information that if you are using Windows 8 operating system, you should have Microsoft account to download Skype or any other application from the Windows Store. Also when you run the Skype first time, you will be prompted to sign in to Skype with your Microsoft account and merge it otherwise you could not able to move forward. They claims that if you merge your account, you can continue to use Skype normally and also be able to contact your Messenger friends.

I think its annoying and most of the people don't want to do that. During my search in Internet I found a solution that you can follow to solve this problem 

Solution:- Download Skype from http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-full and install on your Windows8 computer.

How to access Advanced Boot Option using function key F8 in Windows8

In Windows8 Microsoft has modified their booting process to make it faster. But it remove the function to access Advanced Boot Option using function key F8. So Windows 8 users especially system administrator will have confusion to access Advanced Boot Option if anything goes wrong with operating system.

By default you will get this option if Windows detects any issues while booting. Also you can access Advanced Boot Option from desktop which I described in my earlier post. 

If you still need to enable function key F8 for this, you can do it by following the step below

• Start your Windows 8 computer 
• Open command prompt as an Administrator (On the Start Screen, type cmd and right-click on cmd.exe, then select Run as administrator and Confirm the UAC prompt)
• Then type the following command: bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy and hit enter
• If it executed properly you will get the message “The operation completed successfully"
• Restart the computer 

From there you can access the Advanced Boot Option using function key F8 at the start up. Incase if you want to disable this feature, please follow the above step and instead of running the above command use bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy standard
