Invalid icon

Sometimes incomplete uninstall of software or malwares left invalid or non-functioning icon on the control panel. Here is a tweak to remove the invalid or non-functioning icon from the control panel

Determine and Remove corresponding .CPL file

1. Right-click the invalid icon on the control panel and choose Create Shortcut on the desktop

2. Right-click the newly created shortcut on the Desktop and choose Properties

3. Click on the Change Icon button. You'll then see the actual CPL file name in the resulting dialog

4. Using the CPL file name, you can find corresponding application and remove it accordingly or simply delete the .Cpl file.
