Here we have learned about clean installation of Windows XP. Sometimes recent Hardware or Software changes may affect the normal function of the computer. If anything goes wrong with an operating system you can recover it by running Windows Repair installation. It helps you to recover your computer without wipe out anything on your computer like applications, settings and any personal docs.
1. Boot the computer using the XP CD.
2. When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, press Enter to continue.
3. Accept the License Agreement using function key F8 on the keyboard.
4. Windows will search for existing Windows installations and it will display. Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to start the repair.
5. Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot. Setup will continue as if it was doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact.
Note: You might need to reapply updates and service packs after complete the repair installation.
