Most of us may know the terms Sleep Mode, Hibernate and Hybrid sleep in windows. These features in windows are very useful if you are using Laptop or Notebook for save the power. In this article I would like to share you the differences of these features and how you can implement it on your Laptop.

Sleep Mode

Basically sleep mode is like pausing a DVD player, the computer immediately stops what its doing and is ready to start all over again when you want to resume working. When you want to start working again, it allows a computer to quickly resume full-power operation typically within several seconds.

The computer doesn’t use much power in Sleep mode and it is useful if you want to stop working computer for a short period of time.

Hibernate

When you hibernate, it saves your open documents and running applications to your hard disk and shuts down the computer. Once the computer is powered back on, it will resume everything where you left off.
Sleep Mode puts your work and settings in memory and uses a small amount of power but hibernation puts your open documents and programs on your hard disk and uses zero power. On a laptop, use hibernation if you won't use your laptop for an extended period.

Hybrid sleep

The Hybrid Sleep mode is a combination of the Sleep and Hibernate modes and is designed primarily for desktop computers. Hybrid Sleep saves all open documents and programs in memory and on your hard disk, and then puts your computer into a low-power state so that you can quickly resume your work. That way, if a power failure occurs, Windows can restore your work from your hard disk.

Hybrid sleep is typically turned on by default on desktop computers and putting your computer into sleep automatically puts your computer into hybrid sleep.
